Meet JOVRNALISM™️ CREW:
Rafi Ileri Animashaun
Storyteller, communicator, and adventurer. As a seasoned PR professional and budding journalist, Rafi aspires to use her skills and knowledge to create safe spaces for marginalized communities and voices in entertainment, stories yet to be revealed and welcomed. She believes communications and journalism has the power to bring truth to and shed light on a person's journey, hardships, and triumph.
Baoqi "Eileen" ChenChen
Rising junior at USC pursuing a dual degree in environmental studies and journalism with a minor in GIS and sustainability science. An international student from Anhui, China. Eileen joined JOVRNALISM in 2020 and is interested in exploring how immersive technologies could help tell stories of the planet and its people.
Xuening "Helen" Gao
A multimedia journalist and graduate student with an interest in culture, technology, and social justice. As an international student from Nanning, China, Xuening focuses on long-forms and investigative reporting.
Daniel Green
Multimedia journalist from Los Angeles, California. He received his degree in journalism from Long Beach State University in 2018. After which, he began working as a local journalist and production manager for the Signal Tribune in Signal Hill, CA. He was accepted to USC Annenberg in 2020, where he has covered a wide range of topics, but focusing on community journalism.
Annie Nguyen
Third year undergraduate student at USC studying journalism, with minors in cinematic arts + gender and sexuality studies. She is from El Segundo, CA and the Twin Cities, MN. Annie focuses on amplifying inclusive media representation and telling intersectional narratives. When she's not working with the JOVRNALISM team, she researches for the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, produces documentaries, and edits for Youtubers. In her free time, she cuddles with her cat Eucalyptus.
Olga Rojas
Venezuelan-American journalist that enjoys telling stories with the magic of the words in short and long investigative format. She also has navigated the captivating oceans of videography to tell stories. At this time, Olga is pursuing a master's degree at USC after working in the newspaper industry.
Sam Schwartz
Visual journalist, impactful storyteller and scratch golfer. Working primarily in the realm of documentary, he has covered topics including everything from bee extinction to roller derby. A reporter since 2013, he looks to amplify the stories of those without a voice.
Paris Wise
As a Journalism major at USC, Paris is exploring and studying the various ways people are able to tell stories. To further her storytelling skills, Paris has expanded her Journalism courses by learning coding and immersive tech. Inclusivity and diversity are pillars of her works and passions due to her Native American heritage.
Mari Young
A Los Angeles-based journalist and graduate student with an interest in documentary filmmaking, immersive storytelling, and emerging tech. Her multimedia projects focus on a range of topics from religion and psychology to reproductive rights, health/wellness and human interest stories.
